Presentation of the SCBO

Who is the SCBO (Swiss CB Organisation) ?

In 1973, CB radio was introduced in Switzerland.
At that time 28 channels with 0.5 watt AM were allowed.
Poor devices and a wrong understanding of our "pioneers" led to malfunctions in Radio and television.
After only four months, the PTT therefore limited our licenses to 12 channels in AM with 100 mW transmission power.
In response, radio associations formed across Switzerland, which belong to the PTT Submitted proposals for a liberalization of CB radio.

This led to the foundation of the SCBO in 1979 as a representative of the CB radio at PTT

The SCBO has been an umbrella organization of the Swiss CB organizations since its foundation.
Active organizations paid a kind of 'poll tax' depending on the number of active contributors there. Rounds paid a fixed amount.
However, legal and natural persons who are familiar with the Everyone's radio is closely related or interested in its proper use, become a member.
We called this membership passive membership.
Today the SCBO is only a club and NO umbrella organization and receives radio operators from all bands and HF enthusiasts as members.

How are we organized ?

  • In February 2018, the newly formed SCBO will be included as the 33rd section of the USKA.
  • The SCBO is the 'farm team' of the USKA.
  • The members of the SCBO are close to CB radio.
  • Radio amateurs with CB - past, - present or - future are very welcome in the SCBO
  • All members are entitled to vote on SCBO matters.
  • In USKA matters only the radio amateurs who are also members of the USKA.
  • Our "parliament" is the general assembly taking place in the 1st quarter. It determines the activities and elects the board.
  • Important information reaches the members through the SCBO homepage.

What are our goals ?

At the 1995 delegates' meeting, a spokesman for the authorities described the SCBO as a "tough but fair negotiating partner". This compliment proves how seriously the SCBO is committed to the concerns of CB radio. Our concrete goals today are:

  • Promotion of radio in general, but especially CB radio
  • Information of the CB radio operators about regulations and innovations
  • Removing enemy images
  • Representation of members and CB radio operators in trade, other radio operator interest groups and via USKA to regulating authorities.

How do we achieve our goals?

The SCBO will continue to stand up for liberal solutions.
Changes and advances prove daily that nobody can rest on their laurels.

This way we will never forget where the microphone is:
- We do not want to cause interference with our broadcasts.
- Answering a CQ call is a matter of honor.
Anyone who shares this idea is also very welcome in the new SCBO!

Throughout the years since the SCBO was founded in 1979, there has always been an active CB radio operator at the SCBO.

The ancient Romans called it 'primus inter pares', first among equals. Back then, the 'same' people knew where the base's shoe was pressing.
